Abstract EN
This study examines the performance of EFL learners of greeting speech acts.
to achieve its objectives, a DCT questionnaire was administered, presenting eight situations to prompt appropriate greetings.
the questionnaire was distributed to 50 randomly selected students at Mila university.
analysis of the data reveals that EFL learners employ various greetings, including religious, formal, informal, and negative greetings.
importantly, sociolinguistic factors exert control over the choice and use of these greetings among the participants.
