This article aims to study the French military intervention in the African Sahel region, Mali as a model in which the case study methodology was adopted to analyses and monitor the nature of Mali's crisis as a result of French military intervention and whether it was indeed an intervention to combat terrorism and extremist groups, building the state in Mali on democratic legitimate foundations, but tracking the reasons for the intervention and the backgrounds of the French relationship with its former colonies, including Mali, has demonstrated that such intervention is only one of France's strategies for repositioning the region in order to safeguard its national interests, which have become threatened.
