Africa confronts numerous environmental challenges, characterized by natural hazards that jeopardize the fundamental rights to life and development of humans, who constitute an integral part of the environment, influencing and being influenced by it.

given Algeria's inclusion among the African nations vulnerable to these environmental issues due to its expansive desert terrain, it epitomizes the stark reality of desertification on the continent.

desertification stands out as the most perilous phenomenon, inflicting extensive damage on both agricultural and non-agricultural lands, leading to diminished food production, widespread poverty, and deteriorating public health, among other consequences.

therefore, this research paper addresses the phenomenon of desertification, explores its causes, elucidates its repercussions, particularly on food security, and proposes strategies to combat it through internal and external cooperation, uniting the efforts of Algeria and other affected African nations.

it advocates for an integrated vision and strategy to tackle this issue.
