This article aims to highlight the impact of the free use of modern media and communication on national unity.

the role of the media and communication, at the beginning of their prosperity, was as a means of forming and strengthening the national unity of the United States of America now, that role has more negative than positive effects after being connected to the internet, especially in the global South countries, where their peoples watching the lifestyles of other peoples and their different values through the free use of those modern media and communication and observing the difference between their real reality and the virtual reality of other countries, this what may lead to the dispersion of national values, such as national unity, and to the difficulty of communication between the governed and the rulers.

therefore, the following problem can be raised: may the free use of modern media and communication weaken national unity? here, free modern media and communication are taken as an independent variable, and national unity as a dependent variable.

since the topic relates to political communication between political authority and citizens, the communicative approach is most appropriate for this study.
