This research focuses on studying the novel "the room of memories" by the Algerian writer Bashir Moufti, we explore the ways in which the discourse of memory is employed.

we shed light on the most important artistic techniques through which the author evokes the memory of reality and the world within the narrative text.

we examine the nature of the relationship between discourse and memory, as well as the dominant themes in the novel, aiming to understand the extent to which the writer contributes to conveying historical events through the discourse of memory while connecting them to issues of identity, culture, and human self.

our paper reveals various manifestations of numerous themes such as the theme of existential estrangement, homeland, as well as the depiction of characters experiencing a sense of non-belonging, incapacity, and isolation due to the social circumstances surrounding the novelist.

moreover, it delves the relationship between the Algerian intellectual and women, which encompasses various materialistic, sexual and symbolic representations.
