Abstract EN

This study deals with the symbolic and historical importance of the horse through the roman funerary monuments in western Algeria, as these societies had a different vision according to their beliefs and representations.

the sightings of the horse were repeated on the monument because of its great importance and deep symbolic significance, as the ancient Maghreb man embodied it on the group of funerary monuments due to for its role, which was not limited to one field, but rather its functions varied between religious and military, and therefore this study aims to delve into the historical symbolism of the horse through the funerary monuments preserved in the Ahmed Zabana public national museum in Oran.

finally, the study concluded that the horse among the inhabitants of western Algeria received attention.

and with special care, this animal was sanctified in ancient roman beliefs, as it symbolized strength, victory, freedom, courage, loyalty, and even life and death.
