The Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) in the world can be divided to 6 groups: the Water-Cooled SMRs (LAND- BASED), the Water Cooled SMRs (MARINE - BASED), the High Temperature Gas Cooled SMRs, the Fast Neutron Spectrum SMRs, the Molten Salt SMRs and the Micro Sized SMRs.

This article will focus on the first group of the SMRs.

The technological development and technical specifications of the Argentinean CAREM reactor will be discussed in this article, as an example of the first group of the SMRs, which is a Water-Cooled SMR (LAND- BASED).
