The study aimed to identify the impact of rumors through the communication sites Twitter, Snapchat, and WhatsApp on the students of the department of media and communication at king Khalid university towards the Corona pandemic, as well as to identify the extent to which the students of the media department at king Khalid university depend on the social networking sites Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp as a source of information about the Corona pandemic.

a random sample of students from the media department at king Khalid university was selected.

the researchers relied on the analytical descriptive approach using a questionnaire specially prepared as a tool for data collection and distributed in a random sampling method, where the sample size was (52) out of the size of the adult community (69).

with a response rate of (75%) of the total community size.

the results of the study showed that there is a statistically significant effect of rumors through social networking sites within the limits of the study on the students of the media department at king Khalid university, and there is also a statistically significant effect on the degree of reliance of students of the media department at king Khalid university on social networking sites within the limits of the study as one of the sources information about the new Corona virus, and it was clear that there were no significant statistically significant differences in all average dimensions of the questionnaire of the impact of rumors on the social networking sites Twitter, Snapchat, and WhatsApp on the students of the media and communication department at king Khalid university towards the Corona pandemic.

one of the most important recommendations of the study is to alert the students of the department of media and communication at king Khalid university to follow the documented accounts of the Saudi ministry of health on the social networking sites Twitter, Snapchat, and WhatsApp and to take health information from its official sources.
