Civilizations rise according to the evidence they possess of their cultural heritage, which is one of the basic components of societal memory.

The historical legacy plays an important role in the nobility of these civilizations.

Al-Muwaqqar has a social and cultural importance through the presence of a heritage fabric that reflects the history of Islamic settlement.

This research aims to introduce the cultural heritage with traditional and architectural dimensions in general.

The main theme focuses on the historical legacy of Al-Muwaqqar, its importance, and the threats it faces.

The problem of the study lies in the lack of awareness of the historical and cultural importance of the site by the residents and the competent authorities.

This led to a lack of mechanisms, data, plans and methods for raising awareness and protecting historical heritage from deterioration.

This study dealt with the issue of the municipal role and popular participation in heritage preservation projects in cooperation with the competent authorities from a theoretical and practical angle.

Based on the foregoing, the study seeks to develop measures and policies that enhance the role of municipalities in cooperation with the local community to promote the heritage of Al-Muwaqqar in all its dimensions, which leads to raising awareness of the importance of the region as a first step to include it in the map of historical tourism in Jordan.
