Caves are distinguished by their rich nature, whether they are natural caves or of an archaeological, historical and nature.

tourists come to it for many purposes, whether educational, exploratory, therapeutic or recreational.

which made it a tourist destination for many tourists and the focus of the interest of many countries to exploit it as a tourist attraction.

the caves are of tourism importance, as they annually attract approximately (250) million tourists, worldwide, with an expenditure rate of up to (2) billion dollars annually, in addition to their contribution to providing more than 200 thousand job opportunities.

this research aims to show the role of caves in tourism development and make them a kind of tourist attraction in the Kurdistan region.

and identify the most important problem experienced by the lack of tourism services and how to develop them.

the research concluded that the Kurdistan region is a region rich in beautiful and picturesque caves, which attract tourists to it.

however, many of these caves lack tourist services and have not undergone the development process, which would attract large numbers of tourists in the future.
