The research aims to reveal the discrepancy in analyzing the morphometric characteristics of the Wadi Basin, according to which is located in the southwestern part of Iraq, specifically southwest of Najaf, within the area of the lower valleys and stones belonging to the stable, untortured region, which is represented by the Salman and Abu Jir secondary range, and its area is estimated at (3750) km2, and its formations date back to rocky and sedimentary to the tertiary and quaternary periods, consisting of sandstone, limestone and gypsum rocks, and it is located between two latitudes(0 0 50 30 - 0 45 31) in the north, and longitudes (00 10 43 - 0 20 44) in the east, but geographically southwest of Najaf, between the Abu Khamsa Basin, al-Malah and Wadi Abu Talha Basin, it falls within the arid climate according to the köppen classification, which is characterized by high the average temperature during the month of July is (37.3°c), and the rainfall is low, as its annual average is (94.5 mm).

the morphometric characteristics of the basin have been studied and it has been found that the basin has a shape that tends to elongate and this reduces the possibility of its flooding, and it has a steep slope.
