Abstract EN

This research paper deals with the conduct of Mohamed Ben Abi Chaneb.

He was a man of letters and an intellectual of Algeria.

He left his effect on the Algerian cultural movement during the first half of the twentieth century.

The first section of this paper focuses on his life and work.

Meanwhile, the intension is to find his place among scholars in the East and the West.

The second section treats his scientific and literary efforts in poetry, literature, linguistics and history.

Here, the emphasis has also been upon his intense activities with the orientalists.

In brief, we present the importantce of Mohamed's scientific efforts and his valuable contribution to the modem Arabic renaissance in Algeria.

Indeed, this scholar has not received much attention, and there are many aspects of this work which need further reseach.
