Abstract EN

This study discusses the shori-story experience of Aineen Faris Milhis (1923-1983) through three of his collections: Min Wahi al Wutiqi' (From Real Life).

Abu Mustuf and Zuyul (Aftermath).

To appreciate the pioneering era in which Milhis was one of its main writers, the study analyses the content, language, characters and structure in Milhis's short stories, in an attenpt to identify his contribution to maintaining tradition and introducing innovation.

The conclusion drawn is that Milhis and his generation acted as a bridge between two stages of short story writers: that of the simple, hesitant beginning and the modern stage that came into being in the early 1970s.

This later stage is characterized by a rich production given the wealth of Arab and western models and active criticism.
