تعرض الورقة التجربة التي مرت بها مكتبة جامعة البترا في الحوسبة منذ بدايتها عام 1991، حيث تعاونت المكتبة مع إحدى الشركات المحلية لتطوير برنامج خاص بالحوسبة أطلق عليه اسم (Library) و لم يكتب للتجربة النجاح بسبب كثرة عيوب البرنامج و أخطائه، و بعد دراسة الأنظمة المتوفرة تقرر استخدام حزمة برمجيات (MINISIS) و بما أن هذا البرنامج يحتاج أجهزة HP300، فقد تقرر الانتقال مؤقتاً لحزمة برمجيات CDS/ISIS و التي كانت في بداية انتشارها في الأردن.
و تم تدريب كادر المكتبة على تطبيقات إدخال البيانات و صيانتها و تم بناء قاعدتين للبيانات واحدة باللغة الانجليزية و أخرى بالعربية وفقاً لتركيبة التراسل الأردنية، و بعد الانتهاء من تجهيز البنية التحتية اللازمة لاستقبال نظام MINISIS تم تدريب كادر المكتبة على النظام و تم استخدامه في المكتبة من خلال نقل البيانات من نظام CDS/ISIS إلى نظام MINISIS، و تعرض الورقة الإجراءات و المشكلات التي واجهت المكتبة في عملية نقل البيانات.
Abstract EN
The paper presents the experience of Petra University Library in the field of Library automation since 1991, when the library used a program called (The Library) prepared by a local company.
The experience failed because of the unlimited problems of the program.
As the program requires (HP300), the University Library decided to use the new library automation program interred Jordan (CDS / ISIS).
As a result of the decision, the library started training courses for the staff in the fields of dat interring and programming to establish two data bases, one in English and the second in Arabic.
After that the data transferred from (CDS / ISIS) to (MIN SIS).
The paper discusses the procedures and the problems of the experience.
