Abstract EN

The study begins by the general definitions of the term documentation, its history and its relationship with information science.

Then it deals with the Lebanese institutions related with documentation and information such as, -Institutions representing the country’s memory such as the National Archives Institution and the National Library.

- Institutions which are of Aeadcmie and Professional Nature such as the Lebanese Library Association and the departments of Librarianship in the Universities.

-Storage Institutions represented by Public, special and Academic (University) Libraries.

The study ends by discussing the information technology in Lebanon and its roles in the social, Economic and Cultural Development Processes.

The study includes numerical statistics and critical remarks concerning the sectors of Libraries and Information in Lebanon
