Abstract EN

Although modern education stresses the importance of building an integrated personality, it falls short in dealing with man's spiritual and emotional being.

Man is thus consumed with absolute materialism, which has caused him to lose his humanity and deviate from the goals for which God has planned for him.

Amid this somewhat dismal outlook, the present study attempts to investigate the method of the Holy Quran in building up the individual and his personality.

This is done through reviewing the educational bases and criteria used in studying Quranic texts systematically.

The study specifies a number of fundamentals for the educational environment such as, presenting Quranic knowledge, stressing the oneness of existence and the creator, establishing the uniqueness of man in reason, and urging the individual to be responsible before God in worship.

The study also points out how the Holy Quran emphasizes a number of supreme values such as goodness, balance, endeavor, love, strength and piety, taking into account both man's individuality and sociability.

In so doing, the Holy Quran urges the use of a wide variety of means, the most important of which are the diversification of discourse, the attributes of God, remembering the day of judgment, setting a good example, preaching, support and punishment.

The paper concludes that Quranic education is based upon identifying man of himself and of the constituents around him and argues that the belief in God and the day of judgment are the basis for dealing with all things.
