The paper aims at explaining the problems which appeared throuth practical studies made by library students on using Dewey Decimal Classification at Basrah University Libraries, It also seeks to discuss the reasons behind these problems.
The reasons are discussed with details through three main aspects: 1-staffing.
2- Difficulties of using DDC.
3- Differences in Editions, Translations, and modifications of DDC.
The paper is concluded with some suggestions and recommondations.
