Abstract EN

purpose of this study is to analyze students' attitudes in U.A.E society toward terrorism, the concept of terrorism, fear of terrorism, means of combating terrorism, and the causes of extremism and terrorism (incomplete socialization, illiteracy and poverty).

A random sample consisting of (530) respondents was chosen from Sharjah University.

The study results reveal that unemployment ranks as a top priority and threat to mankind and that the situation of human societies has become less secure since the 9/11 attacks.

Finally, respondents showed their opposition toward killing civilians.

Further, this study found some statistical differences in students' attitudes toward terrorism attributed to their socio–demographic backgrounds.

Based on the results of the study, some important recommendations are suggested.
