تمت هذه الدراسة على عينة عشوائية عددها (150) من مراجعي العيادات الخارجية لمستشفى الرياض للصحة النفسية.
أظهرت النتائج أن نسبة 79% تقريباً من هذه العينة قد راجعوا المعالجين الشعبيين قبل أو بعد مراجعة هذه العيادات النفسية.
و بالواقع فإن 53% تقريباً قد راجعوا المعالجين الشعبيين قبل مراجعة العيادات النفسية.
في هذه الورقة العلمية تم بحث أنواع العلاجات الشعبية و التسميات لتي تعطى للحالات النفسية المختلفة.
أن دوافع الناس الذين يراجعون المعالجين الشعبيين ما تزال في حاجة للدراسة للتحقق منها.
Abstract EN
This study was done on a random sample of the outpatient popula- tion of Riyadh Hospital for Mental Health in Saudi Arabia.
(No.
150).
The results showed that approximately 79% of the sample have con- sulted a popular therapist before or after they came to the psychiatric clinic.
In fact about 53% have consulted the popular therapists at first.
The types of treatments given by those therapists and their nosology of mental illnesses are discussed in detail.
The motivation of people seek- ing unorthodox treatments for mental illness is yet to be determined.

Cette 6tude effectude sur un 6chantillon de 150 malades en soin exteme dans un Hdpital psychiatrique & Ryad.
Arabie Saoudite.
Les R6sultats ont demontrd qu'approximativement 79% des malades ont consults les "gudrisseurs” avant ou apr6s dtre venus d la clinique psychiatrique.
En r6alit6 53% ont consult6 les "gu6risseurs " an d6but Les diff6rents types de ces traitements et la nosologie des maladies mentales ont 6t6 6tudi6s en detail.
La motivation des malades recherchant les ‘‘gu6ris- seurs " reste d determiner.
