Abstract EN

This research explores the foundations of jurisprudence (usul al-fiqh), concerning rules for Iitiba'a (adherence), whether related to the Prophet (PBUH) or his followers as based upon Sharia rulings and detailed evidence related to this matter.

To achieve this goal the researcher applies an inductive method of research to limitg the selection of doctrines by Islamic religious scholars in specifying concepts associated with this term.

The researcher concludes that the meaning of Itiba'a may be considered as in accordance with the Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings and examples he set on every issue.

The research concludes with a discussion about the meaning of Itiba'a and how it applies to jurists (fuqaha’), suggesting that they should consider and draw inferences from jurisprudence doctrines as a source of evidence and general guidelines.
