Abstract EN

The concept of environmental justice implies, “providing environmental resources for all people on the basis of equality, so that every person has equal access to the environmental resources.” Based on this principle, it is unacceptable for some people or countries to monopolize environmental resources or to negatively exploit or destroy resources since this deprives others from their environmental rights.

Islam has established a number basic principles concerning environmental justice, the most important of which include the following: • Human beings have been entrusted the environment; hence, they must utilize it in the manner which complies with what Allah, the Almighty, has legislated.

• The environment is one of Allah's miracles; Humans should protect the environment, avoid exploiting it, and utilize resources in a moderate manner so that the environment may be enjoyed by all people and generations.

• Humans have been blessed with the environment and should protect it; It should not be destroyed or monopolized, nor should its resources be used in excess.

• Islam calls for the continuous development of the environment and seeks its protection and sustainability so that all people may equally benefit from its resources.

It is unacceptable for a group of people or a country to exploit environmental resources in manner that harms others or deprives them of their environmental rights.

• Achieving environmental justice is a personal responsibility and a joint responsibility; therefore, legislation to protect the environment should be established under today’s governmental institutions and associations.
