Abstract EN

The writer reviews briefly Arab’s interest in documentation of manuscripts and traditional literature since the 8th Century.

He goes on suggesting to update these methods in order to render better services to the researchers because only 10% of the manuscripts are accessible to them at present.

He suggests the establishment of a database for two reasons: namely: to control the vast amount of traditional literature and to rewrite the Nation’s history.

Among the requirements of the database are: powerful electronic equipment, qualified personnel and a suitable tool which can include all possible information about the manuscript and which allows for additions and deletion.

He concludes with the various services that can be rendered to the researchers stresses the importance of cooperation among all Arab countries in the implementation of this database.
