Abstract EN

The goal of this research basically is to identify the level of the technical skills recommended to use of Zea mays L.

growers in the processes of soil preparation, through the secondary goals below: a.

Identify the level of the technical skills recommended to use of Zea mays L.

growers in the processes of soil preparation.

b.

Discover the relationship between the level of the technical skills recommended to use of corn growers in the processes of soil preparation & each of the variables below: Age, participating in training courses, sources of information, area of land that grower works in, machines & tools tenure.

The study population included Abu-Sreweel & Al-Hilal cooperatives related to the centre of the Tarmia section.

The number of corn growers in both cooperatives is (340) growers, a random sample of an average 10% has been taken from the total number of growers in these two cooperatives, (18) growers from Abu-Crewel cooperative & (16) growers from Al-Hilal, so the total number is (34) growers.

A scale of technical skills in the soil preparation processes has been constructed consisting of the five stages : Soil preparation before plowing process.

Plowing process.

Smoothening process.

Planning process.

Fowroing process.

They have been measured by (100) items & used a graduated scale consists of (4) levels (do it with high quality, do it with intermediate quality, do it with low quality, doesn't do it) & these levels have been given the following weights (4,3,2,1) in order.

According to this, the range of degrees is between (100-400) degrees.

Several statistical tools have been used in data analysis such as (frequency, percentage, mean average, standard division, standard score, Person correlation formula, Spearman correlation formula, t-test, path analysis, simple regression formula) The results are: 1.

There is a decrease in the general levels of the technical skills recommended to use of corn growers in the processes of soil preparation.

The results of this study reveals a significant relationship between the technical skills & each of (participating in training courses, the source of information, area of the land, the machines & tools tenure).

3.

The study reveals that the most effective variable on the technical skills is the participating in training courses followed by the source of information, & finally land tenure.

The research recommends arranging training courses, choosing their subjects according to the real needs of the corn growers & using different kinds of information sources choosing their subjects according to the growers' needs during the processes of soil preparations.
