Abstract EN

Field experiment conducted at Ofee area (15 kilometers West Babylon governorate center) during spring of 2007, using Randomized Complete Block Design (R.C.B.D.) with three replications.

The experiment included the interaction between five treatments for tuber cutting to 2, 3, 4, and 5 parts and the complete tuber size and four levels of GA3 0 , 1 , 3 and 5 ppm .

Results of this study indicated that tuber cutting significantly decreased the average number of the main stems and plant yield by 22.43 and 15.38 %, respectively.

While, this method did not affect the vegetative characteristics and dry weight ratio, starch, the average number of tubers and tuber weight.

Results indicated that 5 ppm GA3 significantly increased the average plant length and number of stems, but decreased the dry weight and starch in the tubers.

On the other hand it didn't affect the average number of tubers per plant, the tuber weight and plant yield.

Results indicated that the interaction between the two factors significantly affected the number of the stem in which the highest rate was 3.5 stems without tuber cutting and 5 ppm GA3 level, while, the interaction had no significant effect on the growth characteristics and the yield and its components.
