This Paper uses semilogy as a starting point in examining the Cultural system in the Muallaqa of Imru` al-Qays.This starting point becomes clear in the theoretical and pratical approaches followed in this paper.

As to the Theoretical approach the paper highlights the Concept of Semiology, Systemology, the reference point of sign and system, and the role of these Concepts in reading what is inherent in sign and system in the structure of literary discourse.: The practical side of the paper has revealed the efficacy of cultural system in the production of meaning by concentrating on the following sections of the Mu'allaga: al-talal (weeping of the deserted composite), nasib (amorous interlude), night, the wolf, the mare, rain
