Research on obligatory fronting and postposition in Arabic syntax shows that rhetoricians’ and syntacticians1 arguments on these topics have not gone far beyond Sibawayh’s observation.

However, this study clamis that concrete pieces of evidence can furnish another largely ignored linguistic factor for fronting and postposition in Arabic.

It argues that in addition to its significance, obligatory fronting and postposition in Arabic are sometimes used for no reason cxcept to close the sentence, where no other elements can be inserted or added.

To this end, the researcher devotes special attention to delineate the definition, uses and features of the closed sentence in Arabic.
