This project achieves a great interest for both ancient and modern critics, since the entensity of the presence of this portrait in the ancient poetic scripts.

They presented types of reading, discovering the reasons behimd its presence and the role it achieves.

We haven't seen any appoximity which deals with this portrait particular in the elegic text and this encourages us to make this study, it also tries to discover the speciality of this kind of portrail and the functional dimension in Al-Buhturi's Elegy for Mutawaqel.

We found out that the meaning of this portrait in the text under study is like an image which imitates the self of the dead because both of them are included in death, no way out.

They are both under the condition of being itself in the content itself.

But what concerns the construction itself, the portrait trespasses all the previous patterns and stage and has something to do with what follows grammatically and symantically.
