The Biological studies of the leafhopper Empoasca decedens was conducted in the field of plant protection Dept.

Agriculture College & Forestry, Mosul University during 2007, showed that the insect mating period was 38.3 minutes and the oviposition period was 3.2 days and eggs amount was 14 egg per female, egg-laying period was 3.6 days and the incubation period was 9.8 days , hatching eggs percentage was 70.5% and the number of Nymph stages was five , Nymph duration period average was 15.7 days and the average age of both male and female was 20 and 36.6 days respectively.

Sexual percentage was 1: 1.01 , while the total number of generations was 3 generations in full season , first generation duration was 27 days ,the second was 36 days and the third 40 days , while the Chemical control conducted in Al Rashidieh region in potato field infected with the leaf hopper E.decedens showed that the best insecticide was Mida, with relative effectiveness of 43.5%, followed by Calypso 41.75% and finally Sibex 34.32% and the concentration of 1.5 ml / liter.
