100 cockroaches were collected from three different areas; hospital ,food-handing establishments and human dwellings in Nassiriyah city .Three species of cockroaches namely Periplanta americana (American cockroach)JBlattella orientalis (Oriental cockroach) and Blattella germanica (German cockroach) were identified. American cockroaches were the most common (70 %) followed by German cockroaches (18 %) and oriental cockroaches (12 %) fourteen types of bacteria were isolated from the cuticles of the cockroaches. Escherichia coli was the most frequently found (16 %) followed by Enterococcus spp (13.6 %) then Enterobacter spp (12 %) and Klebsiella pneumoniae (10.4 %). The antibiotic sensitivity test for isolates against (7) antibiotics were Resistance to multi antibiotics. The results showed that the bacterial species in the hospital appeared more resistant to antibiotics which considered more serious.
