Abstract EN

The Jordanian parliamentary system is constitutionally based upon cooperation and equilibrium of powers between the executive and legislative authorities.

The practice has revealed, however, a government exaggerative intervention in most affairs of public life which necessitates a more effective parliamentary supervision over the government's acts.

This effective mechanism can be achieved through Parliamentary Investigation Committees.

In spite of the importance of these committees, the Jordanian constitution does not regulate them.

This Article is, therefore, an attempt to examine the legal basis of the Jordanian Parliament's right to establish Parliamentary Investigation Committees.

Moreover, this Article examines the manner of the establishment and nature of work of such committees as well as the legal effects of their reports.

In conclusion, the author calls for the amendment of the Jordanian constitution to regulate this indispensable mechanism of parliamentary supervision.
