This study investigates the first sentence textually in terms of its start and end, feature, syntactic, semantic, current and textual functions.

The first sentence in the top of discourse and its key.

It is syntactically independent, but however too tightly related with other parts of the text.

Every movement of the text, of whatsoever type, refers to it.

It is the key of the meeting between the text and the reader, and one of the main causes of the text cohesion, connection, and harmony.

Therefore, the first sentence gained enough interest from rhetoricians and the Arab Qura'n scholars, besides the interest of modern text scholars.

The study has concluded some strategies which the first sentence adapts to hold up with the controlling part of the text.

The study has shown that this sentence cannot be studied separately from other textual elements, even though it is independent.
