Abstract EN

In this study a broken - line section and trapezoidal stress block distribution are proposed for shear strength of beams with a variable depth .In such a beam , the entire shear span is considered as a free body .The equilibrium equations have been derived .

The solution of those equations gives the ultimate shear capacity of the section .A comparison with test results of another investigator shows good support for this study .
