Abstract EN

Phenothiazine derivatives are medicinal drugs administrated commonly for the treatment of psychosomatic diseases.

Two important compounds chosen in this study Chlorpromazine Hydrochloride and Trifluoperazine Hydrochloride.

Two methods were used in this study for determination of these two compounds based on normal and derivatives uv absorption spectrophotometer .for the normal spectrum compound (1) give calibration curves at0256nm and 306 nm with linear ranges from (1-40)mg/L and (2-300)mg /L, relative standard deviations RSD% of 0.68 and 0.99.

correlation coefficient ® of 0.9995 and 0.9997 respectively .

For the compound (II) the calibration curves at 258 nm and 308nm have linear ranges from (1-50) mg/L and (500-1)mg /L with RSD% of 0.75 and (O.I) and correlation coefficient® of 0.9996 and 0.9994 respectively.

The effect of PH on the determination of the tow compounds at these wave lengths was also investigated and best PH was found to be 6.57 for compound (1) and 6.76 for compound (11).(first., second, third and forth derivative spectra was also studied and the best wave length for these derivative are D1,294 nm and D2,272 nm 03,262 nm for compound (1) and for the compound (II) at 296 nm ,276 nm and 266 nm respectively ,these wave length were used for our determination .

The calibration curves for the D1 ,02and03 for the compound (1) have linear range of (0-40) mg /L with RSD% of 3.22,0.57 and 4.47 and correlation coefficient around one respectively and for compound (II) have linear rangeof (5-500) mg /L with RSD%of 2.24,0.65 and 3.61 and correlation coefficient around one respectively for the wave length chosen .

We found that best derivative was second derivative and used for measuring to compounds (I,II) in the pharmaceutical samples obtained from ( Samarra 6Iraq 6SDI).

Chloropromazine hydrochloride was determined in the tablets largapromactile and fot Trifuoperazine hydrochloride in the tablets Irazine.
