Abstract EN

The Holy Quran is a linguistic text, therefore; our old scholars were resorting to the linguistic texts, whether poetic or prose, to clarify those obscure meanings implied in Quranic texts.

There they would find what rightly explain, interpret and evaluate it. In the light of this, linguistic studies, appeared with the beginnings of Quranic and jurisprudential studies, in order to know the elevated meanings of the Holy Quran and educe legal orders from it, in the light of Arab language meanings.

This was a definite reason for the development of the linguistic studies.

It continued to our present time, We Find Hawza in Holy Najaf appreciate language and give it higher position, they believe that it is impossible for the scholars to attain the position that qualify them to know the Holy Quran, Hadith, and jurisprudence without understanding language, with all its branches. Starting from the scientific ability the scholars in Hawza are enjoying with, we find that they contributed much to all linguistic studies, to the degree that there were attempts to simplify language.

This appeared in the studies of Egyptian scholars in the first half of the twentieth century, when the Egyptian Committee for simplification invited the Iraqi Government to participate in this subject.

The Iraqi government charged Sheikh Mohammad Jawad al-Jaza'eri and Sheikh Mohammad Ridha Kashif al-Ghitaa' both to give their opinions in the Egyptian suggestions. Our great professor Dr.

Ni'ma Raheem al-Azzawi studied answers of Sheikh Mohammad Jawad al-Jaza'eri in his book (Criticism of Egyptian Suggestions), when in 2003 he published a research implying a study of this book in the Journal of the Arabic Language and Literature issued by College of Arts.

We found that it is necessary to devote the research to study answers of Sheikh Mohammad Ridha Kashif al-Ghitaar in his book of the same title. Their participation was one of the great participations, it reflected deep linguistic understanding of scholars of Hawza,.in one hand, and great interest to defend Arab language, which is the language of the Holy Quran. Research implied three small topics and conclusion.

The first was devoted for linguistic and syntactic simplification movement along history of linguistic sciences in general. While the second exhibited the Egyptian attempts and opinions on simplification, and talked about personality of Sheikh Mohammad Ridha.

The last topic included answers and constructive scientific treatments of Egyptian suggestions.

Research was ended with a summary of results and bibliography.
