The zeal for the past and the adoption of history as material for composing the narrative is phonmenon foreshadowing an advancement.

It is, no doubt, aremarkable phonmenon that highlighted a mechanism of responsibility in dealing with historical text and capturing it within the narrative discourse which is more comprehnsjve than this single discourse.

Thus, it has created an independent narrative trend, I.

e, the Neo-Historical Narrative which utilizes the capabilities of the historical mentality in composing a historical narration, Neo-oriented in both the performance and rationale making it a trend that has tools and mechanics different from those of the first historical narration that fostered the Arabic novel at its early beginning.

Therefore, this study examines a number of mechanics that rendered this type of narration as an independent narrative trend in writing the historical novel in general and " Ard El-Swwad " in particular.

Moreover, it reviews the types of historical characters employed and the causes for resorting to history as a source frequently highlighting the first from of this narration in its first stage,
