Abstract EN
Aim of the study : This study was carried out to show the effect of four different safelight watt bulb on the degree of fogging of dental X-ray films, it has been reported that the lesser wattage, the lesser degree of fogging of films.
Materials and Methods : Eight films and four safelight watt bulb (5, 15, 25, and 35) were used in this Study ; two films were opened at each wattage with same time of exposure to safelight which is 0.25 minute and safelight distance which is 4 feet.
All processing techniques and preparation of the chemicals were standardized and processed without exposure to radiation ; light transmission densitometer was used to record the fog densities.
Results : Statistical analysis was used to study the significance between the different results that have been obtained from this study.
Results had been shown that opening the films at 35 watt bulb create greater fog than other watt bulb were used, also the results show that all degree of fogging were within the acceptable range except at 35 safelight watt bulb.
Conclusion : The amount of fog density increase when watt bulb of safelight increases.
