Abstract EN

The strategy of Transportation for pilgrims is based on the replacement of low capacity modes of transport with higher capacity that carry as many individuals as possible.

Intensive studies conducted on the issue proved that public transport and on shuttle transport system basis top all other means of transportation in the to and fro journeys between the Holly Places and the Holly Mosque (Al-Haram).

The main objective of this study is to explore the opinion of the local pilgrims about STS and how far it is possible to implement it with them .

That is after to be acknowledged with the present situation of the roads network , transportation means within the Holly Places and type of modes used by pilgrims .The study based on the analytical descriptive method which built on the collected data and through the field work .

That is after the study give brief exploration for previous relative studies with shuttle transportation in Hajj .

Opinion explanatory result for local pilgrims about the shuttle transportation by buses, showed positive response for the proposal where the percentage of acceptance reached 87% of sample .

And it was indicated that the pilgrim position of the idea is changeable according to nationality , level of education , and noted that the number of those who accepted the idea is more among those who didn't use their own cars within the holly Places than those who used their own cars .

Chi square has been applied for such variables .The studiy finalized that most of local pilgrims are supporting Shuttle Transportation system as to be the major mean of transportation between the Holly Places , and the percentage of who refused the idea was very low which not exceeding 6% of the total study sample .

The study proposes to choice the road No 3 as to be the preferred route to the experiment of application to ( STS ) for the local pilgrims, after carrying out to the required modifications and improvements specially for what related with the U trn, whether it located in Arafat or Muzdalifah , as such road was selected for reasons and justifications those mentioned within the study .
