Abstract EN

Many studies consider institutions of higher education as educational and developmental projects that have positive effect on local and national levels.

This study aims to investigate the effect of Mu'tah University in developing the local community after two decades of its establishment.

A field study was conducted and results of the Z-test show that there are positive developmental effects attributed to Mu'tah University in the area of study; first, the poplutation has increased in the area, and consequently social services and infrastructure have increased as well, second, income has increased while unemployment has decreased, third, thousands of people have graduated from Mu'tah, research studies have been conducted in the area, and trainmg programs for the benefit of local community have been implemented.

However, there is a need for better urban planning around the university to solve the problem of congestion more research is needed to solve local socioeconomic and environmental problems, and more interest has to be considered in vocational training for the benefit of local community.
