يتناول هذا البحث تجربة المكتبة العائمة ))دولوس(( بوصفها نموذجاً متميزاً وخاصاً جداً من المكتبات المتنقلة، وذلك من حيث: تاريخها، وتصميمها وأجزائها، والهدف الذي تُبحر من أجله وتنتقل من ميناء إلى آخر سعياً وراء تحقيقه، وطاقم العمل عليها والمهمات المنوطة بكل منهم، والأنشطة والخدمات التي تقدمها، مع دراسة إمكانية الإفادة من هذه التجربة في عالمنا العربي.

Abstract EN

This study examines the information behavior of students in secondary schools searching for information about university specialties.

The study population sample was selected among the students in two sections (scientific and literary) in children schools (girls) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

It focused on schools that are affiliated to the Department of Culture and Education in the Armed Forces.

Identifying the scientific preferences of students and learning about their desires to continue university education is firmly attached to the availability of sufficient information for them to make the right selection of the university specialties.

Achieving these goals underscore the importance of information for helping students to make better decisions concerning their future careers in relation to skills and specialization offered by universities.

This study used survey methods and developed questionnaires for collecting and analyzing data.

Out of the 200 questionnaires distributed, 114 questionnaires were collected and used in the study.

This study showed that 61 students representing 53.5% of the population surveyed were specialized in science subjects.

The survey also revealed that 84 students or 73.7% of the total population were well versed in English language.

In addition, 107 students, (93.9 %) of the population, expressed their desires to continue their studies towered the university certificate.

Among the students, 66 or 57.9% of the total population surveyed said they would like to search for information about university specialties in order to help them in the selection process.

The study recommended that availability of information about academic specialties in universities is important for helping secondary school students to plan for their future careers.

It is recommended that Internet services should be provided in the school system along with brochures and any other information that can be used for supporting student search for information about universities.

Schools should increase access to the Internet by making computers available to all students in secondary schools.

This will enhance their abilities to become aware about various programs and specialties offered by different universities.
