Abstract EN

This study deals with field training and its influence on the study plan from the perspective of female students in the department of information science at Umm Al-Qura University.

The descriptive approach is used to conduct this study and two Questionnaires are prepared to generate the necessary data .The first Questionnaire is addressed to the female students of information science at Umm al- Qura University, and the second is intended for the officials and training staff in training institutions. These Questionnaires seek to identify the point of view of both the students and the training providers with regard to field training. The most important results of this study indicate that both officials and training staff in training institutions together with the training supervisor in the department of information science all have pre-set clear objectives for training .It is also found that the training officials and staff indicate that the level of the students who are trained with them is satisfactory.

The vast majority of the trainee students admit that training has been of great benefit to them and helped them to acquire skills that can never be attained through pure academic study.

The study comes up with some important suggestions such as improving some subjects in the study plan of the department so that they can match the requirements of the labor market .It is also recommended that students should be given the chance to choose the place of their training and the group they like to train with.

It is hoped that this would motivate the students to work harder and give them some form of self-confidence.

This will also help the students, right from the beginning of their training, to improve their communication skills and to acquire the ethics of their jobs and to develop the spirit of team work.
