Abstract EN

This study is concerned with monitoring the presence and effectiveness of semiotics in the perceptions, approaches, and tools of contemporary fine art criticism in general and of plastic art criticism in particular.

Such concern in justified by the reaffirmation of the strong presence of the textual critical approach in the field of contemporary art criticism.

The study also monitors the potential success of the semiotic approach in handling fine art and text, and the analysis of its signs and is interior content to reveal the phenomena and cultural contexts beyond it.

As well as social, intellectual, spiritual, and other concerns.

For the purpose of narrowing the gap between theory and practice, the study includes examples of the applications of Semiotics in the works of drawing and painting by global artists such as Leonardo da Vinci and Giovanni Bellini who are pioneers of the Renaissance.
