Abstract EN

The main objective of this study is to provide information in the obesity In 25–55 years old women in Khartoum State, Sudan.

The determinant include socio economic, nutritional of health factors.A total of 270 women were examined.

The results showed that the obesity of un employed and office employed is significantly different (P≤0.05) from that of practical field employed (18.7%, 7.4, and 1.5% respectively).

Women with intermediate education showed higher percentage of obesity (13.

3%), followed by those with higher education (10%), and finally by women with lower education (4.4%).The strongest determinant of women over weight and obesity were marriage (47.8%), and has one or more workers in their houses (52.6%).The results also showed that those women were not having responsibilities for sport practicing (46.6 %).

The distribution of the diseases specially back Bain, diabetes and hyper tension were significantly higher in over weight and obese women (8.9%3.4% and 5.6%, respectively) compared to normal and underweight women (3.4%, 1.1%, and 0.7% respectively).

The study also showed difference between obese and normal women in dietary intake of all food groups (carbohydrates, legumes, vegetables, milk, milk products & eggs, fruits, fruit juices and beverages).

The study recommended that women nutrition education is needed and conducting further research is needed in this field.
