This research sets forth a definition for the term citizenship, which means the belonging of an individual to a particular nation or country and being legally linked to them.

Then, it discusses progress that can be made in the area of rights and freedoms.

The research has shown that public freedoms vary between societies and times according to the prevailing political, social and cultural conditions.

It also puts forth a host of regional agreements and pacts which stipulate the principle of equality of opportunities and non-discrimination, such as the European Convention, the American Convention on Human Rights, the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, and the Arab Charter of Human Rights.

The research has concluded with reviewing the way of activating the principle of citizenship, equality of opportunities and non- discrimination.
