The Labour union movement in Algeria is considered to be among the important studies in the jield of economic and social history, for, through which the economic, social and political dimensions become clear.

The political reality represented by the French occupation pf Algeria imposed a Political and social situation compatible with the nature of this occupation in terms of the irrestible urge to possers everything and exploit the countrys resources to serve the French colonization from the occupation of Algeria in 1830 to the independeuce in 1962.

The labour union movement in Algeria emerged as one of the social trendls in the national struggle against the French colonization and its policy against the Algerians lt is the particular suffering of the workers (social distinction and distinction in wages) that prompted people suffering unde the yoke of the occupation and its colonialist policy to inteusify their struggle for the purpose of extracting their private and public rights such that the two together overlap to make the labour movement cohere with all pcoples sectors (Algerian National Liberalion Front) to defend freedom and achieve independenee.
