Abstract EN

This study aims to reveal objectively the thematic unity in Tarafa Ibn Al- Abd's hanged poem.

This unity has been poorly investigated because Tarafa’s hanged poem itself has been allegedly deemed as a fragmented and disunite poem by most classical critical interpretations of Pre-Islamic Arabic poetry.

This extremist view has motivated modernist critics to describe it as “a museum” for inconsistent and irrelevant topics which are merely united by virtue of its rhyme and rhythm.

Accordingly, this study recruits the hermeneutic approach to support the argument that each poetic script of Pre- Islamic Arabic poetry involves an underlying thematic and emotional unity aroused from the poet's psychological state of mind and reflected upon his poetry.

My scrutiny for the issue relies profoundly on investigating the backgrounds and the connotations of places, names, and their associated symbolism by means of linguistic and geographical resources.
