أجريت هذه الدراسة لغرض التعرف على سلوك الحيوان القشري Macrocyclops albidus (Jurine) الإفتراسي ليرقات الطور الأول لبعوض Culex quinquefasciatus الذي يمكن أن يكون مؤشر لفعالية الحيوان القشري في السيطرة الإحيائية على يرقات البعوض.
تبين من النتائج أن الإناث استغرقت 6.30 معدلا لإيجاد يرقة البعوض و الإمساك بها فيما استغرقت 7.20 دقيقة في عملية الالتهام من لحظة إمساك الفريسة إلى أن تتركها لتعود سابحة في الوسط المائي، فيما بلغ معدل المدة الزمنية لإيجاد الفريسة و الإمساك بها لدى الذكور 10.29 دقيقة و معدل المدة الزمنية التي استغرقنها في التهام الفريسة 4.00 دقائق و كانت الاختلافات بين الذكور و الإناث غير معنوية بالنسبة إلى زمن إمساك الفريسة فيما كانت الفروق معنوية إحصائيا (p < .0.5) بالنسبة إلى الزمن المستغرق لتناول الفريسة كما وجد أن معدل الزمن الكلي لتناول الفريسة (المدة المستغرقة لمسك الفريسة + المدة المستغرقة لتناولها) في الإناث و الذكور بلغ 13.50 و 14.29 دقيقة بالتعاقب و أن الاختلافات بينهما لم تكن معنوية.
Abstract EN
The experiment was conducted to investigate the predation behavior of crustacean zooplankton M.
albidus for first instar mosquito larvae of Culex quinquefasciatus, which may be represented as an indicator of the species activity for biological control of mosquito larvae.
Results revealed that females spend 6.30 min.
as average to find the mosquito larval and to catch it, whereas it consumed 7.20 min.
in digestion of the prey.
On the other hand the corresponding means for male were 10.29 and 4.00 min.
respectively.
Differences between females and males were not significant for the time consumed to catch the prey whereas the differences were significant (P < 0.05) in regard to the time consumed to digest the prey.
Results also revealed that the mean total time (catch and digest time) of females and males were 13.55 and 14.29 min.
respectively and the differences between them were not significant.
