Abstract EN

This study aims at conducting Analytic Descriptive Study on the term of substitution , its conception , parts and the method of its analyses for the ancient Arab Linguist starting from Sebawayh (d.180A.H) who had called it substitution, imperfectness and phonetic cohesion), and in the modern Arabic Linguistic Studies it is called (homology and uniformity) and other names.

The researcher founds that this term , in ancient and modern studies , had no fixed use or conception it is still ambiguous, and its parts also had no fixed status , the method of the modern linguists did not agree with the ancient ones upon studying and analyzing this subject , so the research conducts a scientific description for the method of the ancient and modern linguists study of this subject with a linguistic analysis and critique on the light of the modern linguistic studies.
