Abstract EN

This study aims at revealing the perceptions of Inmates who are in Jwaideh-Women correction and rehabilitation center, of the consequences of social labeling that related to (economical opportunities, personal relations, and self-concept).

Then to reveal the relationship between inmates perception and recidivism, and the relationship between social, demographic, and economic variables and inmates perceptions of the consequences of social labeling.

The study revealed that inmates were aware of the negative consequences of labeling on their economic opportunities, and personal relations, but they have preserved high self-concept, then the results showed that there is no significant statistical relationship between inmates perceptions and recidivism.

Further more the results showed that there is no significant relationship between the independent variables, and inmates perceptions of the consequences of labeling and there was a significant relationship between the variables of (residence, education, number of children and the conviction status) and inmates self-concept.

In order to achieve the above mentioned goals, a questionnaire was developed, it consisted of two parts: the First part included the demographic, social, and economic variables.

the second included the consequesnces of labeling (economic opportunities, personal relations, and self concept).
