Abstract EN

‘Condolence’ means making an afflicted person bear and cope with his/her affliction and help him/her feel better.

It is a good Sunnah in Islam based upon the human interaction between Muslims and non-Muslims which Islam encourages.

Subsequently, the question of whether a Muslim is entitled to give his/her condolences to a Muslim, or to a non-Muslim for that matter, who has lost some of his/her relatives is acceptable whether the afflicted person or the deceased are Muslims or not.

However, there are certain jurisprudent rules that need to be respected in terms of not aggrandizing heretic rituals nor participating with heretics in what contradicts Islamic rules in terms of intention, speech, or form.
