Abstract EN

This study deals with the sociological and ambiguous functions of the symbolic violence and its role in the contemporary educational institutions.

It provides a critical and methodological definitions of both symbol and violence concepts.

It also reveals the bonds of relationships between the two concepts into educational practice.

Moreover, it aims to uncover the nature of symbolic violence and its social and educational functions.

The study tries to answer the following methodological questions: What are the outlines and dimensions of the concepts of symbol and violence? What is the symbolic violence, and what are the dimensions and outlines of similar definitions? Can the symbolic violence be a powerful tool in analyzing covert phenomenon in school life? What is the educational function that symbolic violence performs in education in stitutions? And, whether or not symbolic violence plays a class and ideological role in the educational life? Finally, what are the mechanisms and dynamics of this violence insymeducational institutions? The study provides adequate answers to the raised questions, and shows that sym tions.
